Medical Cannabis Legal in Mississippi

Posted by Wayne Housley | Jun 26, 2014 | 0 Comments

On July 1, 2014, Mississippi House Bill 1231 goes into effect legalizing cannabis extracts for medical purposes.  It is named after Harper Grace Durval, a 2 year old girl with Dravet syndrome which is a severe form of epilepsy.

The possession of low-THC cannabis extracts such as cannabis oil and tincture will be legal for those who have a recommendation from a physician.  Mississippi joins six other states and the District of Columbia that have recently legalized some from of medical cannabis or decriminalized cannabis possession.

The question becomes whether other states will follow suit.  Mississippi, long known for its conservative stance on moral issues,  allows this measure to help those with extreme medical issues.
